In the early hours of Tuesday, May 6th, 2025, a string of burglaries shook Rossendale, leaving three shops with shattered windows.
Among the targeted businesses was Julie’s Sandwich Shop on Burnley Road in Crawshawbooth. The owners took to Facebook to share photos of the damage and expressed gratitude that no one was harmed despite the destruction.
“Unfortunately, last night we were broken into! Police have been fully informed and are aware. On the positive side, no one has been hurt, and we are open as normal,” Julie’s Sandwich Shop stated.
They assured their customers that they were open for business as usual.
Police investigation and ongoing efforts
The local law enforcement agency reported that perpetrators targeted three establishments overnight along the same thoroughfare. At present, no arrests have been made, and the police continue to investigate the series of burglaries.
According to a police spokesperson who spoke with LancsLive, authorities received a report of a break-in at 4:23 a.m. on Tuesday at a sandwich shop located on Burnley Road in the Crawshawbooth area.
The incident is believed to have occurred during the night, and investigations remain actively underway.
“Nobody has been arrested at this time, however our enquiries are very much ongoing,” the spokesperson added.

One Facebook commenter reacted, saying, “That’s awful. I hope the police catch them and they are made to compensate you and are named and shamed.”
Another expressed frustration over the crime, adding, “Hope there is CCTV.”

Over the past weeks, the nearby town of Rawtenstall has also been dealing with a series of incidents that closely resemble the recent burglaries in Rossendale.
The ongoing break-ins have caused significant distress and disruption across Rossendale and its surrounding areas.
