Rossendale’s Fairview Recreation Ground undergoes transformation

The play area at Fairview Recreation Ground in Rawtenstall, Rossendale, has transformed from a standard play zone into an inclusive space designed for children of all ages.

The renovation began in October 2024 and was led by GroundInc and funded through a partnership between Rossendale Borough Council and Proffitts – Investing in Communities CIC.

The upgrade includes the installation of new play and sports equipment, along with improvements to footpaths, fencing, seating, bins, and signage. Additionally, the area now boasts a variety of new shrubs, bulbs, and wildflowers, enhancing both its aesthetic appeal and biodiversity.

Rossendale community involvement and feedback

Residents played a crucial role in the development of this project by sharing their ideas and thoughts on how to improve the space.

Their input was instrumental in guiding the improvements, ensuring that the renovation not only met but exceeded community expectations.

Councillor Liz McInnes, the Lead Member for Communities, expressed her excitement about the project, saying, “We are thrilled to see the transformation of Fairview Recreation Ground, providing a fantastic space for families. This project forms part of the council’s wider commitment to enhancing public spaces, promoting health and wellbeing, and fostering pride in our community.”

She further emphasized that it marks a significant milestone in the council’s ongoing efforts to create and maintain high-quality environments for everyone.

A healthier neighbourhood

With its enhanced facilities and improved environment, Fairview Recreation Ground now offers a safe and inviting space for children and families to enjoy.

The project promotes physical activity and outdoor play, contributing positively to the community’s health and wellbeing.

The addition of new shrubs, bulbs, and wildflowers not only beautifies the area but also supports local biodiversity. This element of the project underscores the council’s commitment to environmental sustainability and fostering community engagement.

As the community continues to benefit from this revitalized space, Rossendale Borough Council remains dedicated to improving public areas across the borough.

Residents can look forward to future initiatives that prioritize their well-being and encourage greater community involvement.
