Rossendale’s football future bolstered by 3G pitch grant

Rossendale has given grassroots football a major boost after landing a £1 million grant from the Football Foundation. The money will turn the Adrenaline Centre in Haslingden into a state-of-the-art sports hub.

The new 3G all-weather pitch will put paid to a long-standing headache – waterlogged grass pitches during bleak winters. As the first full-size 3G surface in Rossendale for more than 16 years, it will provide a reliable, top-quality playing surface all year round.

“This is cracking news for Rossendale. The grant from the Football Foundation is a real vote of confidence in our borough and in grassroots football here,” said Alyson Barnes, Leader of Rossendale Council.

She also paid tribute to the hard graft involved in securing the funding, thanking every club across the borough that offered its time, insight and evidence in support.

Keeping the site safe and accessible

All planning conditions must be satisfied before work gets under way to make sure the venue remains safe and accessible throughout the build and once it’s finished.

It’s expected the pitch will host around 80 hours of football a week, dramatically boosting local participation in the game.

The Football Foundation, one of the country’s leading sports charities, works with the Premier League, The FA and the Government to raise the quality, accessibility and long-term sustainability of facilities up and down England.

To keep the project moving, Rossendale Council is working hand-in-hand with Lancashire County Council.

A win for the whole community

The scheme is set to reinvigorate the football scene in Rossendale, delivering a much-needed asset for local players and clubs.

The new pitch will be a real cornerstone of the community, ensuring football fans can enjoy their favourite sport whatever the weather.
